UK Programme
Altruistic Donation
Children born from egg, sperm or embryo donation have the right to enquire to HFEA when they reach the age of 18 as to whether their existence has resulted from treatment using donated eggs, sperm or embryos. Donor-conceived people may apply to the HFEA to receive identifying information about their donors. The recipients will receive only non-identifying information about the donor at the time of treatment. In an altruistic donation arrangement (anonymous at the time of treatment), the donor and the recipient do not meet.
Donors are in short supply in the UK and we are constantly advertising on behalf of our recipients to reduce our waiting times. When a suitable donor is found, we will provide you with as much information as confidentiality and the current HFEA guidelines permit.

Pool Donation
You may know someone under the age of 36, who would like to help you by donating her eggs, but does not wish to donate directly to yourself. She can donate to an unknown recipient from our programme and once she has completed her treatment a donor will be offered to you as soon as a suitable match is available. However, please be aware this may take some time.
Known Donation
If you know someone ideally under the age of 36 (friend or relative) who would be willing to help you directly, you can bring them to the centre for a consultation. The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) also requires all donors and recipients to be matched according to their CMV (Cytomegalovirus) status, therefore we require both recipient and donor to have a CMV blood test before attending for consultation.
