How to refer patients

Laboratory tests needed for fertility treatment

Females: blood test on day 2 or 3 of the menstrual cycle for:
  • TSH
  • Free T4
  • FSH
  • LH
  • E2 (oestradiol)
  • Testosterone
  • Progesterone
  • Prolactin
  • AMH (Anti Mullerian Hormone)
  • Rubella IgG

Transvaginal Ultrasound Scan, Hysterosalpingogram or HyCoSy (when indicated)

Chlamydia PCR (urine / swab) - additionally required for IUI

Males: Semen Assessment
Female and Male: Infection markers – to be additionally done in couples for IVF/ICSI treatment:
  • Blood:
  • Hep B
  • Hep B Core
  • Hep C
  • HIV 1&2

 

  • Urine:
  • Chlamydia PCR
  • Gonorrhoea PCR
