Embryologists

  • Dr Brendan Ball– Laboratory Manager

    Joined London Fertility Centre in July 2010 from Galway Fertility Unit in Ireland, where he spent nine years as a senior Clinical Embryologist . Brendan did his primary degree, masters and PhD in zoology at National University of Ireland, in Galway. He then spent 10 years involved in research and ran a research group carring out EU-funded multinational contracts based in the Martin Ryan Institute, National University of Ireland.
    In January 2001 he moved to the Galway Fertility Unit to take up a position as a clinical embryologist. In 2006, his experience was recognised when he received state registration from the Health Professions Council (HPC). In 2008 he was in the first group to qualify with ESHRE as a European Senior Clinical Embryologist and later that year was accepted for diplomat membership of the Royal College of Pathologists. He is an experienced ICSI practitioner.

  • Danny Daphnis – Senior Embryologist/ Person Responsible for Research

    Danny joined LFC in April 2004 as a trainee embryologist. Now, a senior embryologist, Danny is responsible for the PGS/PGD programme at LFC. Danny also oversees current scientific and medical research projects at LFC as the HFEA person responsible for research. Previously, Danny completed his MSc and PhD at UCL carrying out research projects involving human embryos. Danny completed his Association of Clinical Embryologists (ACE) embryology programme in April 2008.  In his spare time Danny enjoys playing the guitar and tennis as well as going to the movies.

  • Samantha Knight – Senior Embryologist

    Sam joined LFC in November 2006 as a senior embryologist. Sam has been a clinical embryologist for more than 16 years, originally being trained at Guy’s Hospital. Sam has a BSc in Applied Biology.  Sam is a state registered Clinical Embryologist. In her spare time Sam is involved in leading a Guide unit.

  • Victoria Wigley – Embryologist / Coordinator of PGS/PGD programme

    Victoria graduated in 2005 from University College London with a BSc in Human Genetics, and went on to gain an MSc with Distinction in Prenatal Genetics and Fetal Medicine. She joined LFC in June 2008, and since completed her training in Embryology and currently coordinates the PGS/PGD programme at the centre. Victoria enjoys fitness and dancing, and is at her happiest with her friends and family.

  • Angelica Bermudez - Trainee Embryologist

    Angelica holds a BSc in Biological Science and BSc in Cellular Biology & Genetics at San Marcos University in Lima, Peru. Before coming to LFC she worked at the Reproduction and Developmental Biology Laboratory of the Faculty of her University. Angelica started at LFC as a Laboratory technician, March 2008 and now is happily training as an embryologist. In her free time she enjoys going to gym and cinema with friends.

  • Neeta Bala - Donor Bank Coordinator

    Neeta did her first degree in Biological Sciences (Hons) from St. Johns University, New York followed by an MSc in Clinical Embryology (Hons) at Oxford University. She has been coordinating the Donor Bank at LFC since August 2009. After completing her training to be an embryologist she wants to become involved in research in Reproductive Science. Neeta is a trained dancer and has provided state-sponsored official performances in more than seven countries. She enjoys dancing, going to the gym and cooking in her free time.
